Kona Heart

My name is Kona Heart. I am one of Annika’s puppies born February 20, 2009. I
am 11 months old and while I started off a little smaller than usual, I am catching
up! I have a ton of energy and personality.
My mom tells me that I am the smallest lab born at AZ Labs and Giants to date. At
10 weeks old, I just barely made the 10 lb mark. I’ve grown a lot since then…I’m a
healthy 55lbs now!
To catch you up on the past year; my first summer was a fun one. My mom is a
teacher so she spent her whole summer watching over me closely but she tells
me I’m very well behaved for a Labrador. I was successfully potty-trained halfway
through summer and all the furniture and walls are still intact. I would rather play
with my toys than the furniture. In fact, playing is my favorite thing to do! I could
play all day! I love balls, Kongs, bones, stuffed dog toys…anything that my mom
gives me. I’m always ready to play.
My days usually consist of a morning walk, a short training session, some
playtime, a nap, an afternoon/night walk and some more play. On the weekends,
we usually go on a hike or the dog park. If there is any water around, you can
count on me to jump in it whether it is a puddle or a pool! And my training is going
well…except for “heel.” I’m so excited to go on a walk that I can’t slow down! So
far I know the basics: sit, down, stay, come, stand, kennel, high-five, and rollover.
I can even balance and catch a treat on my nose! At the moment, my mom is
teaching me to turn on the light. We started with the command “touch.” I would
touch my muzzle to my mom’s hand when she asked. Once I got that, we moved
to the wall and then the light. I’ve turned on the light a few times so far but I often
miss my mark. I don’t quite get the point of this exercise yet, but we’ll work on it
some more.
